Project Description
The project consists of eight academic institutions that are disciplined in a range of fields including social science, sociology, law, psychology and criminology. Each institution is responsible for one of the eight subprojects detailed in the project.

Methods:
The project follows a multimethod research design, which includes a combination of qualitative, quantitative and experimental methods of empirical social research.
The following overview gives an insight into the variety of accesses in the project.
- Quantitative school and student surveys
- Qualitative interviews with experts and vulnerable groups
- Qualitative and quantitative analysis of the data generated by social media/ internet
- Analysis of police and prosecution case files
- Experimental study based on the impact of internet propaganda
- Systematic research review and meta-analysis
Project objectives:
Special attention is turned to the risk level of the internet as this is a key medium of extremist propaganda. Besides a deepened analysis of the impact of internet based propaganda and the exploration of vulnerable groups and persons, the main objective is the development of protective measures for specific target groups.
All in all, the research is performed in close dialogue with experts to come up with developmental prevention approaches as well as guidance for practice and politics to counteract radicalisation processes.
